‘Bachelorette’ Emily Maynard Breaks Off Engagement With Jef Holm

Despite a happy ending on The Bachelorette finale in July and the hope of building a life and a family together, Emily Maynard and her fiancé Jef Holm have ended their engagement. The pair open up about the split in exclusive statements to PEOPLE:

‘The love between us was so real’

“I am sorry to tell you that Jef and I have, indeed, parted ways,” Maynard says. “It was a very difficult and heartbreaking decision. As you know, at first I wasn’t sure that I should even be The Bachelorette, but I am a hopeless romantic and I do believe in the show. I have no regrets because I did find love and shared an incredible journey with a really special person – and you know what, we tried our best because the love between us was so real.

And Holm tells PEOPLE:

“Meeting Emily on The Bachelorette was an incredible experience, we’ve had quite the journey. I’ve never loved someone so much in my whole life, Emily is the best person and mom I have ever met. She opened up her world to me and I fell in love with her, [her daughter] Ricki, her family and the Hendricks.

‘Tried our hardest’

“Emily and I are great friends and I hope we can continue to be friends forever. Everyone wants a salacious story to break, but the truth is we are just two people who fell in love and tried our hardest to make it work. I will always love her.”

Holm, who relocated to Charlotte last month, has been spending more time in Los Angeles promoting his company, People Water. Maynard, meanwhile, has been going about her life quietly with daughter Ricki, 7, in Charlotte.

The proof is in the picture! Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were photographed together Sunday night for the first time since Stewart publicly admitted to a tryst with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, Entertainment Tonight reports.

‘Reunited’

The couple was spotted at Ye Rustic Inn, a bar in Los Angeles. Following a meeting in September, sources confirmed to PEOPLE last week that Twilight costars had reunited. We are sure all the Twi-hards out there would be thrilled! Or, maybe not? ‘Coz some girls would rather have R-Patz for themselves! LOL!

‘First red carpet appearance’

Stewart, 22, and Pattinson, 26, are scheduled to make their first red carpet appearance together later this month to promote The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2. Considering that some Twi-hards are still mad at K-Stew for cheating on R-Patz, let’s hope they have a successful red carpet walk together!

Kobe Bryant: Smush Parker Is ‘The Worst’ Ex-Teammate

Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant is still a little chippy about the lineups that surrounded him during that 45-win season from 2005-06. Up to and including calling former starting point guard Smush Parker “the worst,” just before Wednesday night’s exhibition loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

‘We Were Too Cheap’

From Janis Carr at the Orange County Register:

“I almost won an MVP with Smush Parker and Kwame Brown on my team,” Bryant said before Wednesday’s 93-75 exhibition loss to Portland. “I was shooting 45 times a game. What was I supposed to do? Pass it to Chris Mihm or Kwame Brown?”

Bryant continued, taking aim at his favorite whipping boy, Parker, calling him “the worst. He shouldn’t have been in the NBA but we were too cheap to pay for a point guard. So we let him walk on.”

‘Calling the Guys Out’

About the talent surrounding him, or having to shoot 45 times (27.2, actually) a game, Kobe is spot on. Calling the guys out, though? Parker, we can understand — he’s been taking shots at Kobe for years, now. Kwame? His effort was lacking, per usual, and he turned the ball over on nearly 17 percent of the possessions he used up. Chris Mihm? We’re not feeling that as much. (And, as far as the Lakers being “too cheap to pay for a point guard,” Kobe’s a little off there, as well.)

Life is a lot easier, now, with Steve Nash handling point guard duties and Dwight Howard ready to throw down as many lobs as Kobe will give him, so you can’t blame the man for giddily considering how far he’s come. But names, Kobe? Their names? Cold. It’s going to be a fun season in Los Angeles. And a hell of a lot of fun as Kobe gets older, and grumpier.

NFL Legend Alex Karras Dies At 77

NFL great Alex Karras – who also played Mongo in “Blazing Saddles” — died this morning after suffering kidney failure … this according to a family spokesperson.

Karras had been battling a myriad of illnesses over the past 2 years, including kidney disease, heart disease, stomach cancer and dementia. He died at home in Los Angeles surrounded by family members. His wife, Susan Clark, was also present during those sad moments.

Karras was a punishing defensive superstar on the Detroit Lions from 1958 to 1970 … before breaking out in Hollywood. Besides “Blazing Saddles,” Karras also had a starring role on the ’80s sitcom “Webster. ” He played the role of George Papadopoulos – the adoptive father of Emmanuel Lewis’s title character – from 1983 until 1989. Susan is the Canadian actress who played Alex Karras’ wife in the said sitcom, according to his attorney, Craig Mitnick.

Karras was 77. He is survived by one daughter with Clark, named Katie, 32 years old. Karras had five children from his first marriage which ended in divorce after 18 years.

‘Green Mile’ Star Michael Clarke Duncan Dies At 54

Michael Clarke Duncan, nominated for an Academy Award for his role in the 1999 film “The Green Mile,” died Monday morning at age 54, according to a representative for his family. Duncan “suffered a myocardial infarction on July 13 and never fully recovered,” a written statement from Joy Fehily said. Clarke died at a Los Angeles hospital where he had been since having the heart attack more than seven weeks ago.

According to TMZ, it was Duncan’s girlfriend Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth, a reality star and former contestant on “The Apprentice,” who had acted quickly and provided lifesaving efforts when he had the heart attack.

A towering and hulking figure, the 6-foot-5-inch Duncan also was known for his deep voice. A Chicago native, Duncan went to college at Alcorn State University in Mississippi with plans to major in communications, but he dropped out and moved home.

In his 20s, he worked digging ditches for Peoples Gas during the day and as a bouncer at night. He told CNN in 1999 that his coworkers at the gas company called him “Hollywood” because he’d often talk about becoming a movie star. In 1990, he decided to measure up his nickname and he moved to Los Angeles. He worked as a bodyguard then got a part in a commercial as a drill sergeant.

“Armageddon” was the beginning of his friendship with Bruce Willis. They appeared in four films together. And it was Willis who called ‘The Green Mile’ director Frank Darabont to put in a good word for Duncan. He was nominated for an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor, which was won that year by Michael Caine for “The Cider House Rules.”

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star Jesse Williams Ties The Knot

Grey’s Anatomy hunk Jesse Williams, who plays brash surgeon Jackson Avery on the hit ABC drama, tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend, real estate broker Aryn Drake-Lee, in Los Angeles on Saturday, a source confirms to PEOPLE.

The couple exchanged vows in a romantic, elegant, evening ceremony in front of close family and friends.

“Jesse was beaming with joy throughout the entire ceremony,” said a guest at the wedding. “It was the perfect night with lots of smiling, laughing and emotion. You could feel the love they have for each other. They’re madly in love!”

Williams, 31, and Drake-Lee, 32, have been dating for more than five years. The TV heartthrob first met his bride while he was working as a schoolteacher in New York. Williams taught high school and middle school students before landing his breakthrough role in 2008′s The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, playing Alexis Bledel’s love interest.

“She’s been with me through all different facets of my career,” Williams told USA Today in 2010. “She’s stuck with me through thick and thick and thick and thin. We know each other in and out.”

Michael Phelps Quietly Dating Model Megan Rossee For 5 Months!

Is Michael Phelps diving into the dating pool? After collecting a record 22 Olympic medals, the swimming phenom was spotted in London with a beautiful blonde, identified by several media sites as aspiring model Megan Rossee, 25, from Los Angeles.

Rossee, who posted an Instagram photo of them together Sunday evening with the caption “Yay Michael,” has been quietly seeing Phelps, 27, since January, Hollyscoop reports, accompanying him to the Olympic Trials as well as the Games.

An avid soccer player, Rossee works as a cocktail waitress at Hollywood’s Blok nightclub, says Hollyscoop, and describes herself on her website as a 5’9.5″ All-American girl with “experience in High Fashion Print, Runway, Film and Television.”

“I am super easy going and pretty much down for any type of project (that doesn’t involve nudity),” her Model Mayhem profile says. “I love what I do and hope to further my career as a model as well as a performer.”

Phelps wrapped his Olympic career Saturday, taking four gold and two silver medals home from London.

Jeremy Renner Accidentally Takes Viagra On 10-Hour Flight

Jeremy Renner’s flight from Los Angeles to London was not without a little, um, turbulence. On his recent trip, The Bourne Legacy star’s attempt to catch some shut-eye up in their air resulted in some problems below the belt.

“I had to get off the plane to go to work, so I had to sleep on the plane,” Renner, 41, recalled on Tuesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! “So I take a little sleeping pill, pop it and realize nothing’s happening – but something else was happening.”

What he thought was Ambien was actually Viagra, given to him by a friend: ”Not only did I not sleep the entire flight,” he added of his 10-to 12-hour trip, but he also had to deal with his pants “camping.”

The flight crew, who were “sort of in on the joke,” helped ensure an otherwise smooth voyage – with lots of ice. Still, “There was no walking,” he said. “If I had to go to the restroom, it was so embarrassing.”

Kristen Stewart Issues Public Apology To Robert Pattinson For Cheating

Kristen Stewart is issuing a public apology for hurting her boyfriend of three years, Robert Pattinson, by having a fling with her Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders.

“I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry,” Stewart said in a statement Wednesday.

News of Stewart’s infidelity with the 41-year-old, married director comes about four years after the couple met while filming the first installment of Twilight, the vampire smash that thrust them into the spotlight before the film even arrived in theaters. Buzz that they were a real-life couple took off almost immediately.

As Pattinson, 26, and Stewart, 22, have become increasingly open about their relationship, they’ve been photographed kissing and keeping cozy on date nights in Los Angeles. Barely two weeks ago, the couple were all laughs at Comic-Con as they joked about their on-camera smooching scenes.

Sylvester Stallone’s Son Found Dead In L.A. Home

Sylvester Stallone’s 36-year-old son Sage Moonblood Stallone, who appeared with his father in Rocky V, was found dead in his Los Angeles home Friday.

“Sylvester Stallone is devastated and grief-stricken over the sudden loss of his son Sage Stallone,” says a rep for the actor. ”His compassion and thoughts are with Sage’s mother, Sasha. Sage was a very talented and wonderful young man, his loss will be felt forever.”

Police officers were called to the house at 2:17 p.m. and discovered the body. There were no signs of foul play or forced entry. LAPD Commander Andrew Smith tells PEOPLE reports that Sage died from a prescription overdose are premature.

Sage’s attorney George Braunstein tells PEOPLE that Sage’s housekeeper initially found him dead. ”(Sage) was full of life, a wonderful, loving person,” says Braunstein. “The last time I talked to him a few days ago he was saying he was getting married, he had a lot of things he was working on and seemed very enthusiastic. There was no indication there was any problem.”

Sage, who Sylvester, 66, had with ex-wife Sasha Czack, was best known for appearing alongside his father in Rocky V, playing son Robert Balboa. He also appeared with his dad in 1996′s Daylight.
