Syria to Boycott Arab League Meeting

Syria will boycott an Arab League meeting to suspend Damascus from the organization, as regional states increase pressure to isolate President Bashar al-Assad for refusing to end a crackdown on an eight-month protest.

Meanwhile, members of the Free Syrian Army fired shoulder-mounted rockets and machineguns at a large Air Force Intelligence complex on the Damascus-Aleppo highway at around 2:30 am (7:30 pm, EST). This triggered a gunfight and helicopters soon circled the area. There are still no reports of casualties and the area is still inaccessible.
